Sky: a cloud; originally, a cloud of water obscuring light; later, a cloud of light, obscuring the stars. As the new meaning took over under the influence of scientific thinking, the original sky, bodies of water vapour in the air, became identified with clods (clouds) of soil, drawn up into the air by light. This massive shift in consciousness aside, if one is the air, then the cloud neither obscures the light nor does the light obscure the stars, but the principle of sky, as a readable form of consciousness (when consciousness is the world, or even if it is the entire universe in all of time), remains. Some people call that ability to live outside of individual consciousness God. Certainly, but first and foremost it is sky.
