Fetch: the act of crafting nearness by bringing distant things close; the making of physical bonds by carrying things out of their natural place and placing them in your own. There they must remain, bound to you forever. In this way a foot becomes a social world, simultaneously creating the actions of going and remaining, while getting others to look after all the things feet don’t do well, such as grasping, carrying and pollinating. Such clever feet!
