Block: the energy of solidity. Even when a block is split from a bulk, or a protruding ridge of land, it retains both bulk and blockiness. That’s how unified it is. It is one of the energies our ancestors learned from the trees and their bulging boles, and passed on to us.

Notice how the modern meaning of “block”, to hinder, is not at play here. In no way does this block “block” the river, as in stopping it. It does, however, create a pool in its own shape downstream: a block of water. That’s how powerful it is.
