Needle: one of the primary technologies of human culture, the knot maker, an instrument for drawing thread through cloth. The cloth so made is said to be knit, or knotted, but what else is a needle but a little (-le) knot-maker? A surrogate human with its eye always on a thread. Such a needle, such a human, is what is made into a nest (what else is a knot or a knit?) An eye that accepts a thread and guides it into place. This is not male knowledge. It is vital.
