Stagger: the paired sprouting of stakes that forms a defensive shield, a weir or a game trap that appears in a stag’s antlers, as it appears in other objects. The action has a point. It is driven into a line, alternately, by hands working in unison. Accordingly, a person walking with canes, or struck on the side with a pole, staggers, as they enter the band of this energy as well. In all cases, it is seen not as a steady state of the universe but an act of filling and becoming, with a great sense of deliberateness or order behind it. After all, if one merely stumbles, one doesn’t bear up to the blows of fate quite so beautifully.
