Mine Mine: any thickening, vein or appearance of minerals, which calls forth the response of gathering them up: the verb, to mine. “Mining” often duplicates or completes the manner of appearance of a mine: if in a vein, a miner will cut out the vein and crouch within it to pass down it; if a covering on rock, he will return it to balance by uncovering it, and so on.
