Walk: a wave that people enter. Moving with it by translating it into a swinging motion of their hips, they propel the earth behind them like a roll of cloth. In this way, they draw future time — indeed time itself — towards them. When they stop in the middle of this wave, time stops and the earth is present. It’s magic. When they begin again, time begins again and the earth is once again set in motion. Those items trod upon by this walking remain still, and bound to the earth by the wave that has rolled over them — removed from time and given entirely to space. They have been given so entirely that if a man walks upon them a second time it is that new modified space he walks upon. So time was before clocks. So it still is, despite the distractions of clocks.
And with that I go walking for a few days. I’ll be in touch when I can.
