Blood: The liquid that bears life doesn’t have to be a liquid. It can be the life that bears a liquid. In both conceptions, the liquidity and the life are the same quickness. The roots of this ancient understanding are perhaps connected to flowers and swollen penises, and those are both expressed today, still, as quickenings.
