Motley

Motley: the scattered interaction of specks of earth with light, including motley, or variegated cloth, mottled shadow and light and moths, which flicker and flash against the sky, especially just before dark. These are all forms of the same energy at the border between darkness and light, when shape takes on more importance than detail and detail is the complex interaction of shape. This particular energy, ascribed to the earth, is a mirror of the patterning prejudice of the human mind, which is a tool for seeing motley in the world. Another mind might see strands, or planes, or colour, but this is the one our ancestors gave us. It blows across the world like a wind scattering tumbleweeds.P1170930
