Fan

Fan: the energy within the air that can be captured to winnow grain from chaff, and the device that catches this energy by spreading (fanning) into a flat surface, which neither air nor light objects (chaff, for instance, or birds) can resist, as they become caught up by it as much as the air, of which they are embodied presences. Fans rise from central stalks or handles, which concentrate energy into downward movement, which they then dissipate so thinly it becomes wind.
