Fell

Fell: the act of dropping, ending, breaking and killing. Fell-space is swept with vertigo. It causes land to break off in a fell (and die away) a river to drop in a fall (and become weightless), and an ogre, such as the Icelandic one below, to surround his lair with the fell bones of his victims. Note as well the green fell, or hide, of the earth creeping up around this ancient sea-side cliff. To reveal the red, bloody earth beneath it must be pulled off. Fell is a power from a time of sacrifice. It is the place where earth becomes air, the pit into which each hanged man falls. It is to be approached with care.
