Head: living capital. A man or beast with its head is alive, which means it can increase; without it is dead and must be disposed of or consumed, and no longer has creative or sustaining energy (not, at least, until its body, or spirit, are absorbed by the body [or spirit] of another). All terms of economics (and half of those of spirituality) come from this primary principle of husbandry: to keep alive rather than to hunt and kill. This is the heart of the notion of economy — to conserve. The principle transfers the energy of the hunt into the energy of keeping.
