Dragon: a moment piercing vision that comes from outside of the realm of  light; it is sight that pierces one in the way that a knife (a dirk or a dagger) does to let in death. Sight given by the eyes is broader in scope and leads to life. In medieval times, this energy was bound with the concept of a worm (or wurm) that came from the power of the earth — a similar and related power but not an identical one, the dragons of  JRR Tolkein aside.
