Gorge: snake energy; exemplified by passage through a long, constricted space, and accompanied by an increase in energy and liveliness. In other words, swallowing. This is why St. George wrestles his dragon (a snake, with wings), why inflamed tissue is engorged, why a throat is a gorge, why a river canyon is a gorge as well (the river is the snake) and why a beautiful flower or person is said to be gorgeous (alive, quick, lively, full of life, like a snake.)
