Heart: the power of trust and constancy; love and praise; in plants, the core of a bud or the growing tip of a plant, from which new leaves spring, in a pattern of size from incredibly small to fully visible; in people, the organ in the body which concentrates and is animated by this force. The power was given a clear image by the image of the rose of faith brought to Europe from the Crusades. Outside of the church, it became a spell, or declaration, of romantic love. Eventually, much of Church imagery grew out of this core.
